New words animal kingdom reading mondays reading
New words from animal kingdom reading
Monday’s reading
Organism - a living thing
Vertebrate - has a spine
Invertebrate - has no spine
Taxonomy - a way to group things
Diverse - a big range
Amphibians - organisms that live in water and on land
Heterotrophic - means they must find and eat food
Autotrophic - an organism that can make its own food
Primates (apes, monkeys)
Rodents (rats, squirrels)
Cetaceans (dolphins, whales)
Marsupials (kangaroos, koalas)
Monotremes (egg laying mammals like the platypus)
Autotrophic - make their own food by photosynthesis
Photosynthesis - how plants make their own food
Vascular - uses roots to absorb water
Nonvascular - uses the whole plant to absorb water
Decompose, decomposition - to break down
Non-flowering - no flowers
Thermophiles - (root word is thermo which is about temperature)
Big ideas from the reading
All living things are called organisms.
They are organised into 6 groups called kingdoms. Each group has certain characteristics that each organism must have.
Animals
Can move on their own
Are heterotrophic (can’t make their own food)
Must eat to survive
Vertebrates and invertebrates
Plants
They are Autotrophic (they make their own food)
Some are vascular and nonvascular.
If a plant has seeds or fruit, it is a flowering plant.
Eubacteria
Are made up of just one cell. They are everywhere. Some bacteria are good and some are bad.
Bacteria called decomposers break down dead plants and anacteria.
Archaebacteria
Can survive where no other organism can live.
Thermophiles, methanogens and halophiles
Fungi
Say it fun guy
Mushrooms are a fungi
They are heterotrophic (can’a make their own food)
Use enzymes to break down food
Protista
Are related to either plants, animals or fungi (one of them, not related to all of them at the same time)

compering the T-rex and the titanoboa
The T-rex was once the top of the food chain and the titanoboa was also once top of the food chain. They both are not vegetarians they are both carnivals. They are both now extinct/dead and they look very scary when they were alive.they were both very vicious and mean.
Lynch facts about the titanoboa
Where did it happen it happened in colombia. What did they find they found the titanoboa bone covered in rainforest it was covered in rainforest because it was very warm in colombia and the rainforest grow. One more cool fact is that when dinosaurs were alive the T-rex was the top of the food chain and when the dinosaurs died the titanoboa became the top of the food chain. The titanoboa went on land and in water the titanoboa went in the water the most because on land it is very hard for it to move because it is very harvey and in the water is very lite.

All About Fossils
Fossil
Fossils are dead animals or plants. They are usually skeletons found embedded in rock.sometimes fossils are footprints or poop.
Small animals or insects get stuck in tree sap which hardens and traps them forever.Large animals can get stuck in ice or their carcass gets trapped in layers of rock.Over thousands of years, pressure builds up and the skeleton is dissolved by water under the ground.Next the mould left is filled with minerals that from rock. This rock shape is the fossil - an exact replica of the dinosaurs. This process tacks 10,000 years.Palaeontologists find fossils when the top layers of dirt washes away.
Carcass
Means dead body
Dissolved
Means disappears
Mammoth
Means erode
Siberia
Is a country
Climate
Means weather
Vital
Means critical , important , necessary
Palaeontologists
Means people who study dinosaurs
Inhabitat
Means something you get from your ancestors

On Tuesday the 14th room 5,6,7 and 8 went to the museum and we looked at things we even got to touch some maori things like pounamu tapu and poki also three others i could not remember but when I do I will wight it down. We also went to the volcano room and we went in a really creepy house and we the fake t.v volcano erupted my sister Tsai’s friend Anittah screamed and it hurt my ears and it was really loud. After that we went to go and have some lunch and what we had for lunch was some chips, cookies, pringles, oreo snack, vegetable sandwich, donut. After we had a kai we went to go look at the mummy from egypt and my friend’s mum told me that one time the museum people brought in a mummy it was still moving and so they wrapped it up with bandages. And then all the classes meet up outside our eating place and then my teacher said that we could do what our teacher/parents said we were going to do and we went back to the creepy house again but we went in as a group.we went in a cave with creepy things. A girl in my group her name is Marlene she got scared and she screamed I was annoyed because they were not learning. After we went around again we went back to the bus and on our way to school we were playing some games like concentration and somacalo and lesa and omala. When we got to school we went in class and we had a little bit of free time and the when the ball raging we all had to pack up when packed up we put our netbook/chromebook away we put our headphones away and we also put away our charger away. After we put the chargers away Miss Ashely picked two/2 people to clean the netbook/chromebook cabied and then miss said that we could go home and it was very very funny and fun at and in the museum it was the best but garth and dyzon were kind of playing up manley garth. But the rest of the day it was pretty cool. We also went to the library and it was so cool on our way out of the museum we went through a spinning door it said on the door no hands and some people from different school and classes touch the door they did get a growling from the parents and the teachers and it was pretty funny some them for other people. It was really serious for me manley the teachers and it was pretty cool at the museum I wish we could got there again one day because it is so fun and funny I hope more people want to back to the museum again I like the museum because it has a lot of cool things. It was amazing I loved it so much it was so fun.I love it at the museum it was the best. If we were aloud to go again I would be so excited about it the rules at the museum were no running inside voices stay with your adult at all times and that was it.
